About our Team

 

 

Dr. Edward Kaufman, Medical Director

Dr. Kaufman has been practicing psychiatry for over 40 years. He blends his knowledge of psychology, family systems and psychopharmacology to meet the client’s individual needs. He was a former president of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and Editor of the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Dr. Kaufman received his medical training at Jefferson University, USC and Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has authored 3 books, edited 5 more, and written over 200 articles and book chapters on family therapy, alcoholism, drug addiction, anxiety and depression. He was a full professor of psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine, where he was the Director of Psychiatric Services, Residency and Medical Students Education and private alcohol/drug services. Dr. Kaufman specializes in buprenehprene treatment and is board certified.

Tiffany Monterroso, Licensed Vocational Nurse

Receive client centered care from a compassionate and dedicated nurse who strives on excellence and giving the best care possible. As a nurse Tiffany combines her training , education and life experience to assist our clients.

Kimberly Schaffer, CATC II Program Director

Kimberly is a Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor II with over 19 years’ experience in the field of recovery. Kimberly is currently on Staff at the inpatient Newport Beach Recovery Center in Newport Beach as the Program Director where she meets the women who come in for detox or treatment where they are! It is her belief that without unconditional love an acceptance a client struggles with forgiveness which slows down the recovery process. Kimberly’s background includes management of 48 beds and 4 homes in her first three years of recovery, 19 years ago. Then she went back to school and got her certificate in Alcohol and Drug studies, Victim Services and Domestic Violence and Corrections and Criminal Justice. Since then she has worked for 16 years for two State Licensed outpatient counseling centers and currently manages 48 beds and five homes for Agape House, LLC. Kimberly shares that working in recovery with the women in Orange County has been the most rewarding work she has ever done. Kim knows that paying it forward is the foundation of healthy recovery so she continues to do just that, pay it forward…. With love and gratitude for those who came before her.

 

 

Francis Hiner, Director of Operations

Over the past 10 years, Francis has helped families and their loved ones to respond to Alcohol and Drug addiction. Francis brings countless years of management experience to Newport Beach Recover Center.
